Introduction

Seachem Pond Matrix is a high-porosity biological filtration media designed to deliver efficient, long-term biofiltration in pond systems. Unlike plastic biomedia that only provide external surface area, Pond Matrix features a macroporous internal structure, allowing beneficial bacteria to colonize deep within the media.These internal macropores support both nitrifying and denitrifying bacteria, enabling Pond Matrix to remove ammonia, nitrite, and nitrate simultaneously all within the same filter. Completely inert and non-degrading, Pond Matrix never needs replacement and remains effective for the life of the pond system.
