Introduction

Seachem MatrixCarbon is a truly advanced activated carbon filtration media engineered for superior removal of organic impurities in both freshwater and marine aquariums. Unlike traditional granular carbons, MatrixCarbon is formed into uniform spherical beads, preventing packing and channeling while allowing maximum water flow and contact time. Its high-density macroporous structure provides exceptional binding capacity, delivering faster adsorption, longer service life, and up to twice the performance of other high-grade activated carbons. With an extremely low ash content, MatrixCarbon has virtually no impact on pH and will not raise pH above 7.0 even in distilled water. It also features the lowest detectable leachable phosphate levels among major carbon brands, making it ideal for sensitive reef systems.
